Community Investment
Sara Lee’s commitment to the community, and the issues and organizations we support, is inspired by our employees, history and business. We believe community investment is our responsibility as a corporate citizen, but we also believe it makes us a better company, one our consumers and employees can respect. This commitment to the community takes many forms and includes the focused efforts of both the Sara Lee Foundation and Sara Lee Corporation.
The Sara Lee Foundation strategically focuses its philanthropic grants on food-related programs (food insecurity, nutrition education, healthy and active lifestyles); women’s self-sufficiency and diversity through the support of highly visible cultural programs. Our employee matching programs further extend the Foundation’s reach across the Nation and directly impact the communities where Sara Lee employees live, supporting a broad range of nonprofit organizations. And, the National United Way Campaign provides yet another opportunity for Sara Lee to support important education, income and health initiatives in the communities where Sara Lee employees live and work.
Sara Lee Corporation encourages its employees to volunteer their time and talent to improve the communities in which they live through focused pre-arranged activities in addition to supporting a global volunteer recognition award program called Promoting Peoples Performance (PPP). Sara Lee also makes its food product donations to Feeding America.
We’re proud of these many successful efforts that reinforce our role and our reputation as a leader in corporate involvement.
